All players enjoy breeding based on their goals. However, there are a few breeding practices that will produce horses that perform and sell better.
Training Boosts (TB)
One breeding aspect is to breed for high training boosts. This is covered more under the article “Training”. Horses with higher levels will produce foals with higher training boosts. Thus, waiting until horses have higher levels will result in foals with higher TB. Levels are gained by showing your horse and it earning “Horse Points”. This can be viewed on the horses page on the right side.
Performance Stats (PS)
Some breed for high performance stats. Horses with higher PS will produce foals with higher PS. To learn more about PS calculator visit the “Training” page in the navigation.
Breed Standards (BS)
Breed standards are preferred to be as close to excellent as possible. Horses with many fairs or poor generally do not sell well. Having a horse with a better BS also correlates to the star value it will be given in a registry or club. This is determined by the total variance from the breed standard.
5 Stars 0-12 BV | 4 Stars 13-24 BV | 3 Stars 25-36 BV | 2 Stars 37-48 BV | 1 Star 49+ BV
For careers, horses need a specific personality. Some players will look to buy horses they know will do well in specific careers.
Skills are used for halter shows and careers. Horses with better skills will excel in these shows and jobs. Some players like to breed for higher skills or often purchase horses with high skills. Skills are earned by entering halter shows or completing jobs.
Colorful horses are usually desired because everyone loves a pretty pony! Having a uniquely colored horse will catch many peoples eyes and may sell quite quickly.
Many players have a specific breed, or FIVE, they focus on breeding. This helps players focus on horses that excel in many aspects, color, BS, PS etc.
There are also those who breed horses to excel in a specific discipline. This means breeding generations of foals from parents with the same discipline. To learn more about disciplines view “Showing” in the navigation.
